Shipping to Europe after Brexit

We love sending our lampshades, lighting and joyful interiors across Europe. Since the UK left the EU, shipping from the UK to European countries has involved a few extra VAT and customs rules.

We know it can all feel a little confusing, so we've tried to explain everything as clearly as possible below.

JULY 2026 UPDATE: NEW EU CUSTOMS RULES

From 1st July 2026, new EU customs rules have come into effect for low-value goods imported into the EU.

Previously, goods with an intrinsic value of €150 or less could qualify for relief from customs duty. This exemption has now ended and a new temporary €3 customs duty applies to qualifying low-value imports. The charge is applied to each relevant item or line of the customs declaration, depending on how the goods are classified for customs purposes.

We're currently working closely with our courier and customs partners to understand exactly how these new charges will be processed and how we can make European delivery as simple and hassle-free as possible for our customers.

Our IOSS VAT registration remains in place and the way VAT is collected on eligible EU orders has not changed.

We'll update this page as soon as we have final confirmation on how the new customs charges and any associated courier fees will be handled.

Please bear with us while everyone gets to grips with the new rules. If you have a European order in progress or you're unsure about placing an order, please email us at hello@lovefrankie.com and we'll be very happy to help.

SHIPPING TO EUROPE

Love Frankie is registered for the Import One Stop Shop, better known as IOSS.

IOSS allows us to collect and declare VAT at the point of sale on eligible orders being sent to consumers in the EU.

In simple terms, this means that for qualifying orders, the VAT due in your destination country is charged when you place your order rather than being collected as import VAT when your parcel arrives in the EU.

The VAT rate charged will depend on the destination country. You can see the current VAT rates and our shipping charges in the table below.

WHICH ORDERS CAN USE IOSS?

IOSS is available for eligible consumer orders where the intrinsic value of the goods in the consignment does not exceed €150.

The €150 limit is set in euros. The equivalent value in GBP may change depending on the exchange rate used for customs purposes, so please don't rely on a fixed GBP conversion.

IOSS is for B2C consumer orders and cannot be used for shipments to VAT-registered business recipients.

If you're unsure whether your order is eligible for IOSS, please get in touch before placing your order and we'll be happy to advise.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY ORDER IS OVER €150?

If your order exceeds the IOSS threshold and cannot be sent using IOSS, we will refund any EU VAT collected by us on the order before dispatch.

Your order will then be sent without IOSS.

In this situation, you may be responsible for VAT, customs duty, import charges and courier administration or clearance fees when your order arrives in your destination country.

These charges are set and collected by the relevant customs authorities and/or courier and are outside of our control.

If you're placing a larger European order, please feel free to contact us before ordering. We can talk you through the shipping options available.

WHAT INFORMATION DO WE PROVIDE TO CUSTOMS?

All international shipments require a customs declaration and/or commercial invoice.
We provide accurate information about the contents and value of your parcel, including product descriptions, product identifiers and the relevant customs information required for clearance.

From July 2026, EU customs authorities have introduced additional Product Identifier requirements for consumer goods imported into the EU. We provide the required product information to our courier as part of the shipping and customs process.

Please note:

- We cannot mark an order as a gift to avoid VAT or customs charges.

- We cannot declare a lower value than the amount paid for the goods.

- We may contact you if we require additional information for customs clearance.

PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR CONTACT DETAILS

When placing an international order, please provide a valid email address and mobile telephone number.

Our courier may need to contact you regarding customs clearance, delivery or any duties and charges due on your shipment.

For some destinations, we may also need to request additional tax or identification information required by local customs authorities.

I DON'T WANT TO CONTINUE WITH MY ORDER. CAN I CANCEL?

Of course.
Please email hello@lovefrankie.com quoting your order number before your order is ready to ship and we'll be happy to help with your cancellation.

Please remember that many Love Frankie products are handmade or made to order, so our standard cancellation and returns terms may apply once production has begun.

HOW LONG DOES SHIPPING TO THE EU TAKE?

From the date of dispatch, shipping to the EU usually takes approximately 2–7 working days.

International shipments are subject to customs clearance and occasional delays can happen. Unfortunately, customs authorities and courier clearance processes are outside of our control.
We'll always provide tracking information once your order has been dispatched and will do everything we can to help if your parcel experiences an unexpected delay.
